ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Akbar S Babar, petitioner in foreign funding case against the ruling PTI, has filed another petition accusing the PTI of using delaying tactics in the case. It is pertinent to mention here that he filed petition accusing the PTI of receiving funding from abroad on November 14, 2014. The foreign funding case against the ruling PTI took a new turn as Akbar S said that the party was misleading the scrutiny committee and asked the ECP to hear the case itself. Babar said the ECP should summon all the records in the case and then make a decision itself. In his petition, Babar said the scrutiny committee has held 42 sessions but no records have been presented yet. Sixteen directives have not been adhered to, he added. He asked the ECP to hear the case soon. On the other hand, Punjab Minister for Colonies Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that the opposition members started to give a new lollipop of the foreign funding case. Addressing a press conference, the minister claimed that whosoever was terminated from the party, [he/she] had started making accusations against it. He also said that opposition parties had even failed in giving resignations from the assemblies. Chohan termed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was funded by Pakistanis but the opponents had made accusations for their vested interests. He also mentioned that the foreign funding case against the PTI has been lodged to blackmail the party. “Opponents have made accusations for their vested interests but they haven’t gained anything before except that they have become a laughing stock,” he added. The minister explained that the party is submitting the report regarding to funding always regularly in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). “The ECP cannot ban the party at any cost,” he added.
