Alarming situation in country as Corona positivity ratio rising sharply: NCOC

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar chaired the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) meeting to analyze the coronavirus situation.

The NCOC meeting has reported that the COVID-19 positivity ratio across the country has reached 7.20 per cent.

The NCOC was briefed that Pakistan’s positivity ratio has soared to 7.20 per cent lately. Sindh recorded the highest positivity ratio at 13.25%, followed by 10.79% witnessed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 9.25% in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 6.41% in Balochistan, 5.84% in Islamabad, 4.81% in Gilgit Baltistan, and 3.59% in Punjab.

There are a total of 2,112 critically ill Covid-19 patients across the country but the number of such patients is increasing sharply, the forum was informed.

Asad Umar said protecting the masses from the pandemic is the government’s foremost priority. All-out efforts are being made to contain the spread of the virus with round-the-clock monitoring of the Covid situation, he added.

He stressed the need for people to play an individual and collective role to stem the virus spread, lauding enforcement of SOPs at mosques across the country.

On the other hand, 

As many as 54 more people died of Coronavirus in the country over the last 24 hours as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 7,897 on Friday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 3,113 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours as the number of positive cases has surged to 389,311.

Pakistan has so far conducted 5,386,916 coronavirus tests and 43,214 in the last 24 hours. 335,881 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,112 patients are in critical condition.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

Till now 168,783 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 117,160 in Punjab, 46,281 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 17,008 in Balochistan, 28,980 in Islamabad, 6,501 in Azad Kashmir and 4,598 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore 2,945 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 2,885 in Sindh, 1,346 in KP, 165 in Balochistan, 305 in Islamabad, 155 in Azad Kashmir and 96 in GB.
