All set for PDM's Lahore rally at Minar-e-Pakistan ground

LAHORE (92 News) - Ignoring terror threat and serious situation of coroanvirus (COVID-19) across the country, the preparations for the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Lahore rally are almost complete at the Minar-e-Pakistan ground.

According to the details garnered, a large stage is being set up on the steps of Minar-e-Pakistan for the leaders while chairs have been set up on the ground at the forefront. Generators have been hooked up and lights have been installed for the rally beside the all-important sound system.

However, the work of installing big screen in the venue is underway. JUI-F stick holding wearing uniform force took the control of venue. The gate no 3 for the party leaders, gate no 4 for women and gate no 5 has been fixed for other participants of the public gathering.

A dozens of supports have already started gathering at the venue despite the cold weather, enthusiastically chanting slogans, carrying flags, and warming up the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, implementation of the SOPs were not seen anywhere in the arrangements. PML-N leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb and Attaullah Tarar, along with other members, inspected the arrangements. the bomb-disposal squad has also examined the venue and have greenlighted it as safe.

The PDM leaders will reach the Minar-e-Pakistan venue in rallies from different parts of the city. PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz will leave Jati Umra in a rally while Bilawal Bhutto will arrive at the venue in a special truck.

The PML-N will also host a lunch for the PDM leaders today. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Bilawal Bhutto and other senior leaders of the 11-party Opposition alliance have been invited for it at the residence of Ayaz Sadiq.

Punjab police issue threat alert to PDM leaders

The Punjab police have issued a threat alert to PDM leaders, including PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto and PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz.

According to letters sent to the leaders, terrorists could target Bilawal Bhutto, Maryam Nawaz, Fazalur Rehman, Saad Rafique, Ayaz Sadiq and Rana Sanaullah.

It stated that precautionary measures are not being implemented in the PDM meetings due to possible terrorism. "Workers are participating in the rallies without being frisked. The PDM will be held accountable in the wake of any untoward incident," the letter said.

The Interior Minister and National Counter Terrorism Authority (NATA) have already issued threat alert in this regard.

Punjab CM Buzdar says won't allow PDM to play with lives of masses

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the government would not allow the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to play with the lives of the masses.

Talking to the media after visiting under-construction building of Ganga Ram Hospital on Saturday, he said that cases would be registered on the violation of the law. "The administration should take all-out steps to establish the writ of the government," he added.

The Punjab chief minister said that the coronavirus cases are on the rise and the NCTA had issued a threat alert. "Are public meetings being held in anywhere in the world? Is it an emergency to hold the meeting?" he queried.

He said that the government was launching four-year nursing courses.
