Alleged suspect of Chunian rape-slay case arrested from Rahim Yar Khan

KASUR (92 News) – A major breakthrough as Police have arrested an alleged suspect involved in murder of children, abducted from Kasur and Chunian from Rahim Yar Khan on Thursday. According to Kasur’s district police officer (DPO), the suspect was arrested during a raid in Rahim Yar Khan and now his DNA samples will be sent to a lab for testing; results of which would determine whether he was involved in the incident or not. The police officer said the suspect had disappeared after the crime. The police have been carrying out raids to arrest the suspect whose whereabouts are unknown after the incident, he added. The DPO expressed the optimism that they would soon arrest the actual culprits. On a tip off, SP President Circle Syed Salim Shah and ASP Sadiq Abad along with heavy force of police carried out a raid on the house of a local land lord within the jurisdiction of Kot Samaba police station. Police arrested the suspect Sajjad Ahmad allegedly involved in the murder of innocent children that were abducted from Kasur and Chunian. Earlier, sources said that the police are trace eight people missing from their houses. According to information received from the voters’ lists, three missing persons are said to be suspects. The police have taken a rickshaw driver into custody. The DNA tests of over 1,300 people have been completed in the area. On the other hand, the Lahore police have arrested Abdul Majeed, a resident of Chunian, who ran a burger point in Lahore’s Nawankot area. The police are hopeful that the children’s killer might be arrested after his arrest. On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had visited Chunian and announced Rs5 million for any person providing information in solving the case of murder of children after abuse in Chunian. Talking to the media , he had said that he was abroad and had been in contact with the officers since he knew about the incident. “All responsible offices have been suspended. The case will be tried in a special court,” he said. He said that the people would see justice being done. The Punjab chief minister said that he had announced to establish a child protection bureau in Kasur. “The case will be investigated on merit and no negligence will be tolerated,” he said. He said that he had given special instructions to IGP Punjab Arif Nawaz. “We have formed the best joint investigation team to trace the case,” he said. Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the forensic agency is conducting the DNA test. “The Punjab government will provide all resources to trace the accused,” he declared. On the other hand, the police are near to arresting the accused. The accused used to sexually abuse the children in a graveyard and murdered them. Later, he used to shift the bodies to sand dunes by motorcycle-rickshaw.
