Amal’s death case transferred to ATC in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – The city court in Karachi on Wednesday transferred the case of Amal Umer’s death to the anti-terrorism court (ATC). The judicial magistrate remarked that fear had spread in the aftermath of the incident and that the case falls within the ambits of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The investigation officer also included the terrorism acts in the case and the ATC has remanded the suspect to police custody for five days. On Tuesday, the police arrested Khalid as the suspect in the murder of Amal umer case and said his accomplice was killed during the encounter. Earlier, ten-year-old Amal Umer was killed on August 13 in the crossfire between police and two robbers soon after they robbed her family in Karachi’s Akhtar Colony. The bullet that hit her was fired by a policeman. The man believed to have robbed the family of a 10-year-old who died in police firing in Artillery Maidan area of Karachi, was arrested on Tuesday. Karachi police chief Dr Amir Ahmed Sheikh identified the suspect as Khalid. Sheikh said weapons, mobile phones and a rickshaw had been seized from the suspect. He said, Khalid, a rickshaw driver from Hijrat Colony had admitted to seven robberies. "His accomplice, Shahzad, was killed in a shootout with police in Akhtar Colony on August 13," Sheikh said. One of the bullets fired by police had hit the 10-year-old who had died from the wound.
