LAHORE (92) – Amjad, who was rescued from the illegal detention cum torture cell of Lahore Police in Gujjarpura, died at hospital. According to the details garnered, Amjad was recovered from the private torture cell of police and shifted to the Service Hospital in injured condition. It was reported that Amjad was not succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The family alleged that Amjad was tortured in the police custody for many several days on suspicion of motorcycle theft. The detention cell was established in the building of the Punjab agriculture department where local police used to detain suspects illegally and subject them to alleged torture. The discovery of torture cell has raised questions over the working of CCTV cameras in lockups of the police stations as it appeared that police officers are avoiding keeping the suspects in lock ups to avoid monitoring by the authorities. The news channel had earlier pinpointed the same detention cum torture in Badami Bagh police station limits three months ago.
