Renowned Qawal Amjad Sabri shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – Unidentified armed assailants on Wednesday gunned down renowned Qawal Amjad Farid Sabri, son of Qawali maestro Ghulam Farid Sabri, in Karachi on Wednesday. The attackers approached his car in Liaquatabad area and opened firing, critically injuring three people, including Amjad Farid Sabri. The injured were shifted to hospital. However, Amjad Sabri died on the way to hospital. Later, the body was shifted to mortuary. A large number of people have gathered outside his house. All the shops and markets have been closed in mourning in the area. His funeral will be held after the Zohr prayers in Liaquatabad on Thursday (today) and he will be buried in Paposh Graveyard. According to eyewitnesses, one of the terrorists stopped the car of Amjad Sabri by parking his bike in front it and later he opened fire on him after opening the front door of the car. According to the preliminary investigation, terrorists started chasing him soon after he came out of his house. The DIG West Karachi told the media that two bikers fired five shots from a 30-bore pistol. He said that the bullet hit to head caused his death. After the incident, the Rangers besieged the areas and started investigations. Meanwhile, the Sindh government has summoned a key meeting with regard to law and order. On the other hand, IG Sindh AD Khawaja has formed a team to probe into the murder of Qawal Amjad Sabri. SSP Central Muqadas Haider will head the team.
