LAHORE (92 News) – The notification regarding appointment of Amjad Javed Saleemi as IGP Punjab was suspended soon after being issued. The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notice to the Secretary Establishment for violating the code of conduct, ordering him to submit a reply within two days. According to the ECP, there is a ban on posting/transfers till the by-election. Amjad was a BS-22 officer serving as Commandant in National Police Academy under the Interior Division. Amjad Saleemi had replaced Tahir Khan who served on the post for a period of one month and two days. Amjad Javed Saleem had joined police department on November 1, 1986 as Superintendent of Police (SP). He served as DPO in Gujranwala and Mianwali and also performed his duties in Bosnia for Unites Nations’ peace mission. However, he was appointed as DPO in Sahiwal and Sialkot and was also served as DIG Investigations and CCPO in Quetta.
