Amnesty Scheme not being extended, clarifies FBR chairman

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has categorically said that the Amnesty Scheme is not being extended. In a statement on Saturday, he said that as many as 20,000 people had declared their assets under the Amnesty Scheme. “Only 30,000 people submitted their tax returns and a total tax of Rs30 billion was collected,” he said. He said that all field offices of the FBR will remain open till 8pm on June 29 and till 11pm on June 30. “All-out support will be extended to the people declaring their assets under the Assets Declaration Ordinance 2019 till June 30,” the FBR chairman said. He added the step has been taken to facilitate the taxpayers in payment of duties and taxes and filing of income tax return.
