Another doctor dies of coronvirus while waiting for a ventilator in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – Another doctor died of coronavirus while waiting for a ventilator on Monday. Former Radiologist Dr Furqan had quarantined himself in his house after contracting coronavirus. PMA secretary general Dr Qaisar Sajjad said that Dr Furqan’s condition deteriorated, but he could not provided with medical treatment in government hospitals on time. He said that Dr Furqan had died due to unavailability of ventilators. On the other hand, the number of doctors affected by coronavirus has increased to 89 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the country has jumped to 20,186. According to the National Command and Operation Center, there are 7,524 cases in Punjab, 7,465 in Sindh, 3,129 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,218 in Balochistan, 364 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 415 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 71 in Azad Kashmir. As many as 5,590 patients have so far recovered while the death toll from the virus stands at 462 with 22 new deaths and 1,083 new cases reported during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, 212,511 tests have been conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic, with 9,522 conducted during the last 24 hours.
