ISLAMABAD (92 News) – As the coronavirus outbreak worsens across the country, an anti-coronavirus research centre has been established at the Quaid-e-Azam University to tackle novel COVID-19 outbreak. According to the details garnered, this centre is being headed by the vice-chancellor of the university. According to him, the team is in contact with researchers in UK, China and the US. Meanwhile, the federal capital has moved towards a partial lockdown. The government has announced that all government offices in the city shall remain closed for two weeks. The local government, too, has ordered malls, hotels and weekly bazaars to remain shut. A notification by the Interior Ministry has instructed the Excise and Taxation Department, NADRA, passport offices, beauty parlors and salons to remain closed. According to a notification issued in Peshawar, the health department will use these rest houses as quarantine centers for suspected patients of corona. Govt establishes quarantine center in Multan for pilgrims The government has also established the largest quarantine center at Multan Industrial Estate to keep pilgrims returning from Iran in isolation for a certain period. In a statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said this quarantine center consists of three thousand rooms. He said 1247 pilgrims, who returned from Iran, have been shifted to this quarantine, and every pilgrim is kept in a separate room. The minister said a 50-bed hospital has also been set up to provide health facilities at the quarantine center in Multan. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the government is taking all possible measures to contain spread of Coronavirus. He said people should implement the instructions being given by the government and take preventive measures so that this difficult situation could be dealt with successfully.
