Anti-encroachment drive continues for 3rd day across Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) – The anti-encroachment drive continued for the third day across Punjab on Wednesday. In Lahore, an illegal plaza and shops were demolished with heavy machinery in Sherakot area. In Harbanspura, locals protested against the drive and blocked Canal Road. They also burnt tyres. The protesters said that they had been living there since long and would not let their houses demolish. The district administration asked the protesters to show ownership documents till 6pm today. Punjab Minister for Housing and Development Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said that 150 kanals of land had been retrieved from the squatters. DG LDA Amna Imran said that the operation will be launched on daily basis. The Punjab government has ordered the district administration to purge Lahore of the Qabza mafia.
