Anti-polio campaign kicks off across the country

KARACHI (92 News) – As part of the polio eradication campaign, a countrywide polio vaccination campaign kicked off in Pakistan on Monday. The campaign will target around 8.4 million children below the age of five, throughout the Punjab province. In Sindh, the six-day Polio immunization campaign is being held in six districts of Karachi including Malir, Korangi, South, West, East and Central. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 6.5 million children will be administered polio drops during three-day campaign in the province and FATA, while, a meeting of FATA Polio Task Force will be held in Peshawar with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in the chair. The meeting will review progress and results of previous anti-polio drives in the tribal areas. Representatives of UNICEF, World Health Organization and other concerned authorities will also attend the meeting. In Balochistan, three-day anti-polio drive also begins in thirty districts of the province in which over 2.4 million children will be administered polio drops.
