NEW YORK (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he had apprised the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members of the situation in Occupied Kashmir twice in five months. Talking to the media after the UNSC meeting, he said that briefing on the Kashmir situation was made possible on the request of Pakistan and support of China. “The Kashmir dispute is an internationally recognized dispute that has been on the agenda of the UNSC for seven decades. Today’s discussions have once again reaffirmed its International dispute status and the urgency to resolve it in accordance with UNSC resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” he said. https://twitter.com/SMQureshiPTI/status/1217674632427458561?s=20 Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that debates have once again highlighted the controversial status of Kashmir. “In my meetings with President UNSC, President UNGA and UN Secretary General, I emphasized the humanitarian crisis and the reign of terror unleashed on innocent Kashmiris by India since August 5, 2019,” he said. Pakistan has achieved a great success by arranging a debate on the Kashmir issue in the United Nations Security Council. All 15 members of the Security Council participated in the debate. Talking to the media, Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun said that China’s stance on Kahsmir is very clear. “Kashmir has always been on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council. There has been tension between Pakistan and India recently over the issue,” he said.
