Ceremonies held to commemorate martyrs of Peshawar APS tragedy

PESHAWAR (92 News) – A simple ceremony was held to commemorate the martyrs on the sixth anniversary of the Peshawar Army Public School tragedy.

Relatives o f the martyrs laid floral wreaths on the Yadgar-e-Shuhda and offered Fateha. A smartly turned out contingent of the Pak Army presented the guard of honour. Relative of the martyrs, teachers and students participated in the ceremony.

On Saturday, relatives of the martyrs lit candles.

Meanwhile, ceremonies were also held in different cities and candles were lit for the martyred children.

On December 16, 2014, terrorists stormed the school and martyred around 150 people, including more than 130 young students. Security across the provincial capital has been heightened to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion of the anniversary. The attack not only shook the entire country but it was condemned by people and countries across the world.

Parents of the martyred students have urged the people to play a role in making the country peaceful and strong on the sixth anniversary of the devastating terrorist attack on APS Peshawar.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in a message on the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School reiterated the nation’s resolve towards national, regional and world peace.

In a message on the occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan said that martyrdom of students and teachers would be always remembered.

He said that innocent students of Army Public School sacrificed their lives to lay a foundation of lasting peace in the country and made the entire nation, government and security forces united against the common enemy.

CM Mahmood said that the provincial government salutes the determination of families of martyrs who bear this great loss with patience and perseverance.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has said the students and teachers of the APS had written history with their blood to make Pakistan secure and peaceful.

He said that the great sacrifices given by students and teachers will bear fruits who embraced martyrdom during the APS tragic incident.
