ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Islamabad High court (IHC) on Tuesday rejected the plea to form a judicial commission to probe the death of journalist Arshad Sharif.

Hearing the plea, Chief Justice Athar Minallah observed that there will be no benefit of forming a commission at this stage as it is a matter between two states. "The inquiry held by the security agencies will be more effective. The journalist bodies should also be onboard during the inquiry," he added.

Barrister Shoaib Razzaq told court that both ministries had cooperated and the government should be given time to form the commission. He said that they would have not come to court had the government formed the commission.

He said no red warrants for the slain journalist were issued. "No one is being blamed. We want only investigations into the incident," he prayed.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing for a week.
