Armed forces capable to thwart any outside aggression, says COAS Gen Raheel Sharif

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said that our armed forces are fully capable to thwart any outside aggression.

Addressing a special ceremony in connection with the Defense Day at GHQ Rawalpindi last night to pay tribute to the martyrs of 1965 war, he said that Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of the partition of the sub-continent, adding that the time has come that the Kashmir issue should be resolved according to aspirations of the people of Kashmir and UN resolutions. Army Chief said if the enemy tried to impose short or prolonged war on us, it will have to pay unbearable price. He said we are ready to face any challenge may it be a hot start or a cold start. He said that he is proud of being a head of one of the strongest army in the world. Gen Sharif said that September 6 is a proud day in the history of the country, adding that the armed forces defeated the enemy forces who attacked our country. He reiterated his resolve to eliminate abettors, financiers, sympathizers, and facilitators of terrorists at all costs. He paid rich tribute to the people of FATA for their unmatched sacrifices. He said that the process of repatriation of Temporary Displaced Persons has begun. The army chief said that the incident of attack on Army Public School Peshawar was the worst example of brutality and tyranny. He said most of the terrorists involved in this incident have met their fate. Talking about the Karachi and Balochistan operations, he said that peace has been established in both areas, adding that operations will be taken to logical end. The Army Chief said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project is important not only for Pakistan but for the whole region and it is a national duty to complete this project. He also praised the media for playing a key role in war against terrorism by exposing real face of terrorists. Gen Sharif said that Pakistan is concerned on the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan. He said that we have made serious efforts for peace in Afghanistan but some anti-peace forces are active to sabotage our efforts. General Raheel Sharif laid flowers wreath at the martyrs’ monument and offered Fateha.   army chief
