DUBAI (92 News) – Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf has on Thursday said that it was the need of the circumstances whenever the martial law was imposed in the country.
In an interview with British Broadcasting Company, he said that the army has always put the country back on track but the civilians have taken the country of the track whenever they came in power.
The former president said that the people do not care whether its democracy, dictatorship or a kingdom. They just want jobs, prosperity and security and security, he added.
Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf said that there has always been a dictator behind all the developments in Asia, adding that Pakistan has always been put on track by the dictators.
He said that former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was guilty of breaking Pakistan not the army. “Former President Zia-ul-Haq’s Afghan policies were right,” he said.
“I took over the government of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on October 12,1999 on the insistence of the people,” the former president said. People always come to the army for rescue, he added.
