ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Planning Asad Umar on Thursday dispelled the impression that confirmed coronavirus cases have declined due to a reduction in the number of tests. In his statement on twitter official account, the minister has maintained that some people are saying that cases are down only due to testing reduction. “There has been decline in coronavirus cases in the country primarily due to a nearly sixty percent reduction in positivity,” he added. The minister also explained that if positivity rate had been over 22 percent, which was in mid-June, the 24,262 tests done yesterday would have resulted in 5,500 cases, but the actual number of cases yesterday was 2,145. “Some saying cases are down only due to testing reduction. If positivity ratio was same as  in mid june... 22% +, the 24,262 tests done yesterday would have resulted in 5,500 cases... Actual yesterday was 2,145.! Decline is primarily due to a nearly 60% reduction in positivity,” Asad Umar tweeted.
