Asghar Khan case: SC directs Nawaz to appear before court within an hour

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to appear before court within an hour in Asghar Khan case. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib heard the case. During the hearing, the chief justice asked that where is Nawaz Sharif, he has been given notice but why did he not appear before court. Saqib Nisar directed that if Nawaz Sharif was present in Islamabad then appear before court within an hour. The attorney general informed the court that in this time Nawaz Sharif is facing trial in NAB court. To reply, the chief justice said that Nawaz Shairf can  send his lawyer before the court on behalf of him. The CJP asked from Javed Hashmi that did you take the money? Javed Hashmi replied that he had not taken money. During the hearing, lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan told the court that Khurshid Shah was in Karachi and his name was not among the recipients of money. He also said that the issued notice to Khurshid Shah was backed by the court, saying that notice was issued by mistakenly. Mirza Aslam Baig also appeared in court. "I request the court to decide over my case and not the army," he said. "Submit your petition and we will review it," remarked the chief justice. After the break the hearing resumed, the chief justice asked that had reached Nawaz Sharif. The attorney general informed the court that Nawaz Sharif was arranging to hire a lawyer for this case. He will appear before court with his lawyer. The apex court allowed Nawaz Sharif to give him some time to hire a lawyer and adjourned the case till June 12.
