Ashiana case: court extends remand of Ahad Cheema until July 4

LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court on Tuesday sent Lahore Development Authority (LDA) former director-general Ahad Cheema on judicial remand until July 4. As per details, The court sent Ahad Cheema and chief executive officer (CEO) of Bismillah Engineering Shahid Shafiq to jail on a judicial remand in the Ashiana Housing Scheme case. Cheema has been accused of fraud and misuse of authority in Ashiyana-e-Iqbal Housing scheme by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) along with six others; proprieter of Bismillah Engineering Company Shahid Shafiq, PLDC official Imtiaz Haider and another PLDC official Bilal Qudwai, Israr Saeed and Arif Majeed. Accountability court judge Najamul Hasan was informed by NAB officials that Cheema was arrested on February 21 after the bureau detected illegalities and corruption worth billions in a deal between Paragon Housing Society and Punjab Land Development Company to construct the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Society. Previously, he was sent on a 90-day physical remand while Shafiq served 87-days. Accountability Judge Syed Najamul Hasan on Tuesday sent Shafiq to jail.
