Ashiana Iqbal scam: NAB to file reference against Shehbaz Sharif on Nov 24

LAHORE (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday prepared a reference against former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif in the Ashiana Iqbal scandal. Sources said that the reference is likely to be filed on November 24. They added that a team had given a briefing to the NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal in this regard. In the reference, it has been alleged that Shehbaz Sharif tried to benefit private people by misusing his powers. “Shehbaz Sharif, as the chief minister, also misused the power of PLDC Board of Directors,” he maintained. The reference states that Shehbaz Sharif and co-accused Fawad Hassan Fawad cancelled the contract of a company that had fulfilled the merit criteria and got beneficial benefits from the company. Shehbaz Sharif had transferred the Ashiana Iqbal contract to the LDA from the PLDC on October 21, 2014. It caused a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
