Ashiyana Iqbal, Ramazan Sugar Mills references adjourned till May 11
LAHORE (92 News) – Accountability Court Judge Najamul Hassan Bukhari adjourned the Ashiyana Iqbal and Ramazan Sugar Mills references till May 11.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif could not appear in court for being abroad. The court accepted Shehbaz Sharif’s plea for one-day exemption from appearance.
Talking to the media after the hearing, Hamza Shehbaz said that the government had failed in running the government. “The holy month of Ramazanul Mubarik is about to start and the prices of daily-use items have gone increased,” he said.
He said that the government is directionless, while the ministers were criticizing the previous governments.
On April 23, an accountability court judge adjourned the Ashiyana Iqbal and Ramazan Sugar Mills cases till April 29.
The court had accepted Shehbaz Sharif’s plea for one-day exemption from appearance and sought arguments from the NAB for his plea for three-week exemption. The counsel for Shehbaz Sharif said that the accused does not need permission to go abroad. The court summoned more witnesses for recording their statements.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly also appeared in the court in the Ramazan Sugar Mills case.
After appearing in court, Hamza Shehbaz said that the change had broken the backbone of the people in just eight years. “May Allah save us from this change!”
On the request of Amjad Pervez advocate, the court allowed Hamza Shehbaz to go home.
Accountability Court judge Najam ul Hassan heard the case. During the hearing, the accused denied all the charges.
Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza indicted in Ramazan Sugar Mills case
Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz were indicted in Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
The father-son duo appeared before an accountability court in Lahore earlier today, where they were indicted in the Ramzan Sugar Mills corruption reference.
The court has summoned witnesses and adjourned the hearing.
The NAB had filed a reference against the two alleging that the former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif misused his authority by using public funds for the construction of a bridge to facilitate the Ramzan mills, owned by his sons.
