Assets beyond income case: Accountability court extends Hamza’s physical remand as of July 24
July 10, 2019
LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court (AC) extended on Wednesday the physical remand of Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz in assets beyond income case till July 24 The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore presented Hamza before the court and sought his 15-day physical remand. The NAB’s prosecutor took plea before the court that the PML-N leader was not cooperating with the investigators in the case and the investigators needed more time to probe him for assets beyond known sources of income and money-laundering cases. The judge accepted the plea and remanded Hamza in physical custody of the NAB as of July 24. "Give the physical remand for three months as it 's difficult for the NAB investigators to get satisfied. I will quit politics If corruption allegations are proved against me," Hamza stated before the court. The judge, however, remarked that the court didn't bother whether Hamza quit or remained in politics. A scuffle broke out between the police and some lawyers said to be associated with the PML-N after the former stopped the latter to enter the court’s premises during the hearing of case. Police had ensured strict security arrangements outside the judicial complex and blocked adjoining roads for routine traffic. On June 26, the court had extended Hamza’s physical remand for 14 days upon the NAB’s request. On June 11, the premier anti-corruption watchdog had arrested Hamza in the same cases and shifted him to the bureau’s headquarter at Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore after the Lahore High Court (LHC) turned down his applications for extension in his interim bail.  Meanwhile, the NAB team took Hamza along from the judicial complex after case hearing. https://youtu.be/rthVQqZKZO0
