Assets beyond income: NAB summons Akram Durrani on April 11

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned former federal minister and Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) leader Akram Durrani for an inquiry, in a case related to assets beyond known sources of income on April 11. According to the reports, Akram Durrani has been served notice to appear before the corruption watchdog body for an inquiry, he will be handed over a questionnaire. The former minister allegedly allotted plots owned by the DHA Foundation in sectors 1-12 and 1-16 to his near and dear ones and caused losses to the national exchequer, the top graft buster had said in a statement. It was also reported that that JUI-F leader will be handed a questionnaire during inquiry. He has been also served as the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister from 2002 to 2007. He served as federal minister for Housing and Works, in the Abbasi cabinet from August 2017 to May 2018. Last year, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal had ordered an inquiry against Akram Khan Durrani over misuse of power and illegal allotment of plots. Durrani was re-elected to Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a candidate of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) from Constituency PK-90 (Bannu-IV) in general election of 2018. On October 2, 2018, Akram Khan Durrani became leader of the opposition in the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Last year, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal ordered an inquiry against former federal minister over misuse of power and illegal allotment of plots.
JUI-F leader Akram Durrani safe as shots fired at vehicle in Bannu
Earlier, JUI-F leader Akram Khan Durrani’s luckily escaped shooting after his vehicle was fired near Basia Khel in Bannu. According to the sources, Durrani was en route to an election meeting in Basia Khel when shots were fired at his vehicle by unidentified suspects, who escaped after the attack.
Sources further said that the JUI-F leader’s vehicle was a bulletproof SUV and thus the bullet could not penetrate the windshield and reach its target. Durrani is contesting the July 25 election on a Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal ticket against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan from NA-35 (Bannu). The JUI-F leader’s convoy was also attacked on July 13 in Bannu while he was leaving an election rally, resulting in the death of four people and injuries to several others.
