Assets Case: Witnesses record statements against Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The accountability court on Friday resumed hearing of the assets beyond income reference case filed against former finance minister Ishaq Dar by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the Supreme Court directive in the Panamagate case. The accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir heard the reference filed against Ishaq Dar for having assets beyond known means. During the proceedings, the court recorded the statement of five prosecution witnesses, while the counsel of former minister Ishaq Dar cross examined the witnesses. While recording statement, Motor Registration Authority (MRA) Lahore official Muhammad Naeem told that court that three vehicles were registered in the name of Ishaq Dar which were later transferred to his family members including his wife and Syeda Zahra Mansoor. Second prosecution witness banking expert Zafar Iqbal Mufti while recording his statement told the court that the senator, his wife and his companies have 15 accounts in different banks among which Dar and his wife have seven bank accounts, while their companies have eight banks accounta. The witness further said that over Rs 2.5 million were deposited in the accounts while more than Rs 9.9 billion were withdrawn from the through several transactions. On the other hand, prosecution witnesses including former NADRA director Qaboos Aziz and ECP Deputy Director Saeed Ahmad Khkan also recorded their statements.
