ASWJ’s Taj Hanfi, MWM’s Allama Yousaf Hussain held in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – Following the new wave of unrest, the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have on Sunday apprehended several persons including political and religious leaders in Karachi’s different areas during the last three days. As per details, the law-enforcement agencies have detained former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Faisal Raza Abadi, Nazimabad Jamia Masjid Noor Emaan Khatib Allama Mirza Yousaf Hussain and religious party leader Taj Hanfi. Sindh Rangers carried out a search operation in Nagin Chorangi and detained Ahle-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leader Taj Hanfi, while raids are being carried out for the arrest of another Ahle-Sunnat Wal Jamaat leader Rab Nawaz Hanfi. On the other hand, three suspects were arrested during search operation in Rizvia Colony. The arrested suspects were identified as Baqir, Akbar and Azam alias Ajju, while weapons were recovered from their possession. Earlier, LEAs during an operation in Nizamabad area of Karachi arrested Jamia Masjid Noor Emaan Khatib Allama Mirza Yousaf Hussain from his house. The prayer leader was shifted to undisclosed location for further investigation. Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) strongly condemned the arrest of Allama Yousaf. According to MWM spokesman, Allama Mirza Yousaf had participated in the peaceful protest at Shahrah-e-Pakistan. Meanwhile, Malir judicial magistrate ordered to send former senator Faisal Raza Abidi to jail on a judicial remand till November 19. Abidi has been sent to jail on charges of keeping illegal weapons. The Sachal police presented the former senator before the court of Malir judicial magistrate. The investigation officer told the court that five different types of weapons were recovered from the house of Abidi during search operation. The recovered weapons license has not been verified yet. His weapons license has been sent to federal and provincial Interior Ministry for verification while other investigations are underway, he said. The court while ordering to send Abidi on judicial remand also demanded the report of license verification and recovered illegal weapons.
