At least 45 passengers killed, 10 injured as assailants fire at bus in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – At least 44 people including women and children were killed and several injured when unknown gunmen attacked a passenger bus near Safoora Chowrangi area on Wednesday. According to eye-witnesses, the bus was sprayed with bullets from both sides by six terrorists clad in police uniforms who were riding motorbikes.The attackers then boarded the bus and opened indiscriminate fire at the innocent passengers. The bus was enroute to Ayesha Manzil. The attackers feed the scene of crime after the attack. Following the attack, Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali, Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, SSP Malir and DIG East reached the attack site and investigations are being carried out. Rescue teams shifted the victims to Memon Medical Institute and Hospital where an emergency was imposed. Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah suspended the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of the area. Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Shairf and leaders of PTI, MQM, PPP and other parties have condemned the attack and announced a day-long mourning in the memory of the deceased. Also, the PM sought a report of the incident from the interior ministry, while Federal minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar ordered Sindh Rangers DG and Sindh IG to present reports.
