ATC sends journalist Mohsin Baig to jail

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The anti-terrorism court sent journalist Mohsin Baig to jail on the judicial remand.

The court rejected the application of the police for extension in the remand. It ordered the police to again produce him on March 8. Earlier, the court reserved the verdict on the application.

Mhsin Baig has been nominated in two cases — one registered with the FIA and the other with the Margalla police. The first case was registered at the FIA's Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Lahore on Murad Saeed's complaint about his 'character assassination' during a show in which Baig was one of the panelists.

Subsequently, an FIA team raided Baig's residence in Islamabad last week. During that raid, officials allege Baig shot at and roughed up members of the FIA team, following which he was arrested by police and a separate case was registered against him for attacking government officials.

On February 21, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had declared the plea for release of journalist Mohsin Baig as non-maintainable.
