Attack on Chinese Consulate not to damage Pak-China friendship: FM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi was foiled and will not damage Pak-China friendship. Responding to the attack, Qureshi condemned the attack as “cowardly” and lauded the timely action by police and rangers who foiled the attack. “Twenty one people were present inside the Chinese consulate in Karachi. All remained safe. Three terrorists, who attacked on consulate on Friday morning, were killed,” the foreign minister confirmed. “The situation is under control and the area has been cleared,” Qureshi said, adding that the perpetrators will be taken to their logical conclusion. The foreign minister mentioned that he had spoken to the Chinese consul general and the Chinese ambassador. He explained that the Chinese ambassador is satisfied with the prompt response from the Pakistani security forces. FO condemns attack on Chinese consulate The Pakistan Foreign Office condemned the attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi. “We condemn the attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi. Security forces took charge. Three terrorists killed. All Chinese safe,” Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal tweeted shortly after the attack.   Fawad Ch condemns attack on Chinese Consulate Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry condemned the attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi and labeled it a “conspiracy” targeting Pakistan-China socioeconomic and strategic ties. He said such incidents cannot hinder the friendship between the two neighbors. In his tweet, the minister deploring the terror-bid, vowed to bring the perpetrators to the court of law.   Earlier today, the Security forces foiled a terrorist attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi this morning killing three terrorists while two Police personnel also embraced martyrdom. According to the police sources all the staff of Chinese Consulate remained safe in the incident. The security of Chinese Consulate and other sensitive installations has been tightened and the situation is now under control. A prompt response from the security agencies has successfully repelled the attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi. Two police guards posted here embraced martyrdom during exchange of fire with the militants. According to the eyewitnesses, at least three attackers attempted to enter in Karachi’s Clifton Block 4 on Friday morning and were challenged by the security guards.
