RAWALPINDI (92 News) - Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended an impressive ceremony on the Martyrs' Day at GHQ on Wednesday.

He laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhda. A large number of people, including relatives of the martyrs and serving and retired army officers attended the ceremony. Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza was also accompanying him.

During the ceremony, the services of sacrifices of the Pak Army troops were highlighted through the video packages. The service of the Pak Army during natural calamities and floods were also mentioned.

Addressing the ceremony, COAS Qamar Bajwa said that he was delivering the last address as the army chief. "I am retiring after serving the Pak Army for 44 years. I salute the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland," he added.

He said that the Pak Army had served the nation beyond its mandate and would continue to do so. "I am proud of leading the great Pak Army for six years. The army's task is to defend the geographical borders of the country. We will not let the sacrifices of the martyrs go waste," he maintained.

COAS Qamar Bajwa said that an attempt was made to create a stir in the country by creating a fake and false narrative. "It will be a big sin if the army remains silent in the wake of a foreign conspiracy," he declared.

He said that an elected government was termed as 'selected' on the excuse of the RTS failure in 2018. "In 2022, the government formed after the no-confidence motion was called 'imported'. The army's interference in politics is unconstitutional. The Pak Army has resolved not to interfere in any political matter in future," he added.

The COAS said that the country is facing severe economic difficulties today. "We will have to advance after learning from the mistakes," he added.
