ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar said that an attempt was made to make the pilots issue controversial. Speaking in the Senate on Friday, he said that 17 pilots were fake degree holders. "The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is not on the list of privatization," he said. The minister said that action will be taken against those who signed the licences. He said that the degrees of 166 pilots have been verified. "I cannot defend the CEO issue as the matter is sub judice," he said. He said that 11 chief executives were changed during the last 10 years. "The cabinet should also be held accountable. I say with responsibility that no bad intention in the accountability process in the PIA," he said. Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that 658 people have been sacked so far. "In the past, the people were recruited on fake degrees. We will take the matter to the logical end," he added. PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said that the PIA faced a loss of Rs90 billion due to restrictions.
