Aurangzeb calls for expanding tax net, reducing energy sector losses & privatize institutions running in losses

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the government will have to expand the tax net, reduce the energy sector losses and privatize the institutions running in losses.

In his keynote address at the 7th edition of Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit on Tuesday, he said that the IMF loan is the last option. "There is no plan when the IMF loan is in the programme," he added.

The minister said that the economy is improving. "Foreign exchange reserves will reach US$10 billion by June," he added.

Talking to the media during a stopover en route Pakistan from the US, Finance Minister Aurangzeb said that no amnesty scheme would be introduced and the people would have to pay the tax.
