HOBART – Australia defeated Pakistan 6-0 in the opening match of International Hockey Challenge in Hobart on Saturday, reported 92 News. Blake Govers scored on debut for Australia's hockey team in a thrashing of Pakistan. Kieran Govers was on target in the 49th minute on Saturday night, beating Pakistan's goalkeeper Imran Butt to make it a comfortable 4-0. Flynn Ogilvie added his second goal only five minutes later before Kiel Brown finished off the rout. Earlier, Jake Whetton got Australia off to a flying start with a goal in the fourth minute following a nice build-up with fellow forward Glenn Simpson. Ogilvie then got the last touch on Whetton's reverse stick shot in the 11th minute to double the lead. Australia went quiet for the next 25 minutes before Trent Mitton scored to kickstart a strong finish to the game from the home side. Australia A will take on Pakistan on Sunday.
