Aviation Ministry meeting summoned today on issue of outsourcing airports

KARACHI (92 News) – The high-level meeting of the Aviation Ministry has been summoned today (Monday) to discuss on issue of outsourcing airports. According to the reports, the officials of the Aviation Division will hold a meeting today to mull over the strategy for outsourcing airports across Pakistan. The Aviation Division is expected to take important decisions in the today’s meeting scheduled to be held at the committee room of the Ministry of Commerce at 4:00pm. According to the notification released by the Cabinet Secretariat of the Aviation Division, the participants of the meeting will discuss matters related to the outsourcing airports. Earlier, the Federal government has decided to outsource three major airports in Pakistan. According to the reports, Islamabad Airport will be outsourced in the first phase. It is recommended to lease the terminal and land of the airport. It is estimated that the lease of the airport land will generate revenue of Rs 16.82 billion. In the second phase, Karachi and Lahore airports will be outsourced. The federal cabinet will decide on the summary of the aviation division today. However, the summary will be presented while the final approval will be given by the federal cabinet. A summary would be presented in the cabinet meeting to be held on Tuesday for approval. The cabinet will take up six-point agenda including outsourcing the all major airports.
