ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Awam Pakistan Party (APP) was launched on Saturday.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be the convener of the new party, while former finance minister Miftah Ismail will be its secretary general.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Miftah Ismail said that the country is system is in the hands of the elite. “The government has become the hunter, while the people are its prey. We do not want a country where the system of injustice is in vogue,” he added.

Miftah Ismail said that their manifesto was to give each Pakistani an opportunity to make progress. “The current budget has exposed the priorities of the rulers. We have to change the system as six million are out of schools, while 100 million people are living below the poverty line. Four children, out of 10, are physically and mentally impaired,” he added.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the rulers are worried about their chair instead of the poor people. “Pakistan’s governance is faulty and there is instability in the country. Today the country is on the verge of destruction,” he added.

He said that no one was ready to resolve the problems of Pakistan. “Presently exports are at the lowest level, while inflation is at its peak. How can a government imposing a tax on milk give a relief to the masses,” he added.
