Azadi March: Govt-opposition talks to be held today

Azadi March: Govt-opposition talks to be held today
October 25, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Formal talks between the government and the opposition on the issue of ‘Azadi March’ are set to begin on Friday (today). The government negotiating team headed by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak would hold talks with the 11-member Rehbar Committee having representation of all major opposition parties at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani. Khattak, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and acting President Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday formally contacted the opposition leaders seeking an appointment.
Govt-committee should bring PM’s resignation letter
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman hinted that despite the talks between the joint opposition’s Rahbar Committee and the government’s negotiating team on Friday, his party was unlikely to roll back its plan to stage its ‘Azadi march’ on October 31. “The Rahbar Committee will decide whether we will go ahead with the Azadi march or not,” he said. “They should bring the prime minister’s resignation letter along with them to the meeting.” The JUI-F chief said after the Rahbar Committee’s meeting with the negotiating team, opposition parties would discuss the matter before giving a response to the government. “The Rahbar Committee is willing to meet the government team and hold talks. But what can you expect from a team that is headed by Pervez Khattak? His attitude is not fit for talks.”
Azadi March will start from Karachi at 10am on Oct 27
Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that Azadi March will start from Karachi at 10am on October 27. He made the announcement after a meeting of the JUI-F Central Majlis-e-Aamla on Thursday. He said that the government had sold out Kashmir. “We will express solidarity with the Kashmiris and enter Islamabad on October 31. We will stay in Islamabad even for two months for an end to the government,” he declared. Maulana Fazlur Rehman declared that the nation will get the resignation if Imran Khan did not tender it. “The accent of the Government’s Dialogue Committee was not appropriate. The committee should bring the resignation of Imran Khan along with them,” he said. He announced that they do not accept the rigged elections. “The nation is unified that the present rulers are unable to run the government,” he said.
