Azam Nazir Tarar hints at extending caretaker set-up tenure

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has given an indication to extend the tenure of the caretaker set-up.

Talking to journalists at Parliament on Monday, Azam Nazir Tarar said that the extension of the term of the caretaker government depends on the situation.

"There is room for extension in the tenure of the caretaker set-up if the law and order and economic situation does not improve," he added.

Azam Nazir Tarar said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will probably look into the issue of the election expenses and census within the constitution.

"All decisions have to be made by the Election Commission of Pakistan. It will give the date of the elections keeping in view the the Constitution and the Election Act," he added.

The minister said that it is too early to say under which census the elections will be held.
