Baldia Factory tragedy: SHC upholds death sentence of Rehman Bhola, Zubair Chiriya

KARACHI (92 New) - The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday upheld the death sentence of Rehman Bhola and Zubair Chiriya in the Baldia Factory tragedy case.

The court had reserved the verdict on August 29. The court ordered to release four accused who were awarded the life sentence. One of the accused had died three days ago.

Meanwhile, the court rejected the appeals against the acquittal of Rauf Siddiqui and others.

The court ruled that a very substandard and faulty investigation was done in the case. "The real culprits were provided protection through a misleading FIR. It is sure that the decision to torch the factory cannot be made without the approval of the MQM high-ups," it ruled.
