ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Balloting of Hajj applications under government scheme will be held on Tuesday. According to a spokesperson of Ministry of Religious Affairs, the balloting was delayed for one day on the request of Banks. He said Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri will perform the balloting. The spokesperson said 216, 542 intending pilgrims submitted their applications for Hajj this year. All banks have been directed to complete online entry at the earliest and ensure accuracy of updating records of the pilgrims who remained unsuccessful in the last three years, spokesperson said. The banks were also advised to clear cheques and drafts of Hajj pilgrims. The deadline for submission of Hajj applications under the government scheme concluded yesterday after an extension till March 09 while the process was commenced on February 25.

Process for submitting Hajj applications under Government Hajj Scheme at fourteen designated banks has been started, which will continue till 6th of next month. According to the policy released by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, nearly, 184,210 Pakistani pilgrims will perform Hajj this year. Earlier on February 21, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has increased Pakistan’s Hajj quota to 200,000 and also agreed to Pakistan’s suggestion to provide E-Visa service to its pilgrims. Speaking to Pakistan Television, the minister said the decision was taken by the Kingdom during his telephonic conversation with Saudi counterpart Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir “The government and people of Pakistan are thankful to the Saudi government for this commendable step,” he continued.

The applications under Government Hajj Scheme will be received in the fourteen designated banks from 25th of this month to 6th of the next month. The scheme 2019 shall be implemented through Government and private group organizers with the ratio of 60:40. Dues under Government Scheme will be 436,975 rupees for Northern region, which include Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Sialkot, Faisalabad Multan and Rahim Yar Khan, while 426,975 rupees will be received for Southern region, which include Karachi, Quetta and Sukkur. Qurbani charges 19,451 rupees will be optional and there shall be no free Hajj this year. The selection of Hujjaj under Government Scheme will be made through computerized balloting on 8th of the next month. This year, 10,000 seats would be reserved for senior citizen above the age of 80 years. Another 10,000 seats would be reserved for persons who have been unsuccessful in ballot continuously for the last three years. Under Government scheme, 1.5 per cent of the total seats will be reserved for hardship cases. Five hundred seats will be reserved for labour and low paid employees of companies registered with Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) and Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) sponsored by their respective organizations under their Corporate Social Responsibility.
