Balochistan govt declares emergency to deal with locust attack

QUETTA (92 News) – The Balochistan government has declared an emergency to deal with the possible locust attack. The government has provided funds to the commissioners and local administration. All relevant departments have been directed to jointly work to deal with the locust attack. Directions have also been issued to get vehicles on rent. A notification in this regard has been issued. Last month, the locust attack had destroyed crops on a large scale in different cities, including Jhang, Sahiwal, Bhakkar and Bahawalpur, in a couple of days. Swarms of locusts descended on crops of wheat. The Agriculture Department had issued a high alert, asking farmers to beat drums and explode fireworks. In Jhang, the Agriculture Department has formed 50 teams to deal with the attack.
