Ban is not applicable for IG’s transfers in by-elections: cabinet division
October 10, 2018
LAHORE (92 News) – The Cabinet Division on Wednesday has said that ban on the transfers and postings is not applicable for Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) transfer. According to the details, the cabinet division said that the notification of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) pertaining to the suspension of the transfer of IG was not received. It said that the transfer of IG was done with the consultations of the Punjab government. However, the cabinet demanded the ECP to withdraw notification of suspending Punjab Inspector General’s (IG) transfer. According to details, the Cabinet Division stated that the ban on transfers and replacements is only applicable in the constituencies holding by-elections. On Tuesday, ECP had cancelled the government’s notification to replace Punjab police chief Tahir Khan with Amjad Javed Saleemi and sought reply from Punjab Chief Secretary in this regard. The decision came after Amjad Javed Saleemi, a BS-22 officer currently serving as Commandant in National Police Academy under Interior Division, was appointed as new Punjab Inspector General.
