Bangladesh SC turns down Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ahsan Ali's appeal

DHAKA (Webdesk) - Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid will walk the gallows for after the Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld his death sentence. As per reports, the Jamaat leader  had been awarded the death sentence for his wartime offences. The four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice SK Sinha delivered the verdict around 9:00am. Other members of the bench were Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, and Justice Hassan Foyez Siddique. Earlier in August, Mujahid filed the appeal with the apex court challenging the capital munishment on charges of war crimes.
