Barrister Ali Zafar terms ECP attitude as 'dishonest'

LAHORE (92 News) - Barrister Ali Zafar has termed the attitude of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as 'dishonest', saying that the ECP is not the court of law and the election symbol cannot be withheld due to the intra-party elections.

Presenting his arguments in the intra-party elections on Saturday, he said that it was in the right of a political party to contest the elections with an election symbol.

He contended that their request was also related to the basic rights of a political party. "According to the constitution, the ECP has no right to review the intra-party elections," he maintained.

Barrister Ali Zafar said that the Article 17(2) gives the right to form the parties by two ways and the SC had already explained the Article 17(2).
