Bilawal Bhutto says presidential system not in interest of country
Earlier, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that the presidential system is not in the interest of the country. Talking to the media after a meeting of the opposition parties on Friday, he said that all democratic forces will oppose the presidential system. “There is no place for a referendum in the constitution. This system could not work except in the United States,” he said. Bilawal Bhutto said that only Islamic parliamentary system is the best one. Only the wish of people, not any third umpire, works in the country,” he said. The PPP chairman declared that the NAB law was formed for political engineering. He also offered the government cooperation for the resolution of the Balochistan issues. “The PPP had initiated the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and there should be no compromise on it. CPEC is an important project. The government should ensure that there will be no compromise on the CPEC project,” he demanded. Bilawal Bhutto hoped that the prime minister would not make the CPEC project controversial. “Politicians, judges and generals should be held accountable equally,” he said. He said that the government is not sincere in the running the parliament, economy and other affairs. “It is only taking U-turns,” he said. Earlier, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) agree to work jointly to defend 18th Amendment, democracy and human rights.
