LAHORE (92 News) – PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that Islam puts a great emphasis on the rights of women. Talking to the media on Thursday, he said that the PPP had given the rights to women. “The first female judge was appointed during the PPP tenure. Moreover, the Benazir Income Support Program was launched during the PPP government in 2009. The international bodies have lauded the program. About 1.5 million women benefitted from the project,” he said. Bilawal Bhutto said that farmers and labourers should get the equal rights. “The Sindh government approved a six-month leave for a woman giving birth to a baby,” he added. He said that critics used to say that a woman cannot become the prime minister. “Those who say Aurat March should not be held. I say that it will be held at all costs,” he added. The PPP chairman said that no one can oppose a woman if she wants to join a profession. “We demand that the federal and provincial government should provide security to Aurat March,” he added. He said that they will make the ‘selected’ prime minister flee like Musharraf and Zia were forced to flee.
