LAHORE (92 News) – PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that a state cannot survive without the law and the rule of law is mandatory in the country.

Addressing the Lahore Bar Association on Thursday, he said that it is time that the judiciary should free itself from the wrong judgments of dictators. "We will have to work for the betterment of the institutions. The parliament is facing the worst period and the country is distancing from democracy," he opined.

The PPP chairman said that without the law no press is possible, no civilized society is possible and no democracy is possible. "I and the PPP have a special relationship with the law. The law is glue which binds the society together. Law is the bridge between the state and the people. Pakistan was formed by a lawyer, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Pakistan was made a constitutional Islamic republic by a lawyer Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto."

Bilawal Bhutto said that those who conspired to murder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto have been consigned to the dust bins of history. Their names are remembered as only smear on the face of our constitution, on the face of our republic and on the face of their institution. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto lives to this day in the hearts of the people.," he maintained.

He said that Pakistan needs an accountability system which is fair, non-discriminatory, transparent and efficient. "The courts have the responsibility to uphold the values of fundamental rights, fair trial and due process," he added.
