Bilawal strongly criticizes govt's decision to mortgage motorway, airports

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto strongly criticized the government's decision to mortgage the motorway and airports.

Responding to the federal cabinet's decision regarding mortgaging of the motorways and airports, the PPP chairman said, "Whatever project the Prime Minister Imran Khan embarked on, it did more harm than good."

Referring to the prime minister's comments from a few days ago - in which he had spoken about the rise in cases of sexual violence in Pakistani society - Bilawal Bhutto maintained that the clothes a woman wears or the way she dresses, has nothing to do with the sexual violence or rape. He also advised the Prime Minister to choose his words wisely

It is noteworthy here that in an interview with Axios's Johnathan Swan, Imran Khan had said: "If a woman is wearing very few clothes, it will have an impact on men .... Unless they're robots. I mean, it's common sense."

The PPP leader said that the prime minister's remarks were 'disappointing'. Bilawal called on people to stand with victims of rape and sexual abuse. "Such crimes should not be linked to a single cause ... the clothes of a person have no link with rape or abuse," he said.

Earlier, preparing to impose a heavier debt burden on the debt-ridden country as the federal cabinet has given go head to mortgaging country’s two motorways, three airports and Islamabad Expressway.

According to the sources, the federal government has approved huge loans by mortgaging government assets. A loan of Rs 1,800 billion will be taken in the next financial year by mortgaging government assets. Three airports, two motorways and the highways will be mortgaged.

The sources also said that the highways that have been approved for mortgage include Islamabad Expressway, Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway and Pindi Bhattian Lahore section.
