Blast kills 10, injures 14 in Kurram Agency

KURRAM AGENCY (92 News) – A roadside bomb targeting a bus has killed at least 10 people in the northwest tribal area of Kurram Agency on Tuesday.

The explosion occurred in central Kurram Agency as the passenger van en route to the town of Sadda from Godar village, about 250km west of the capital Islamabad, early on Tuesday morning.

Around 23 passengers were aboard the van, and there was a bomb placed on the roadside near the village of Godar.

The blast shook the entire area killing at least 10 people on the spot and wounding at least 13 others.

Police and rescue teams reached the blast site and shifted the injured to nearby hospital for treatment.

In a statement issued by the ISPR, a transport helicopter was dispatched to move those in need of critical medical care.

The wounded were being treated at hospitals in Sadda, Parachinar and Peshawar, said Majidullah.

The victims included a woman while three injured were said to be in critical condition.

Security forces have cordoned off the area for investigations. Security forces have now initiated a search operation in the area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Last month, a bomb targeting a mosque in Kurram's main town of Parachinar killed at least 10 people and wounded dozens more.

Kurram is located along Pakistan’s northwestern border with Afghanistan, and has seen a series of attacks in recent days.
