NEW DELHI (92 News) – Bollywood star Salman Khan’s tweet extending support to 1993 Mumbai blast convict Yakub Memon has landed him in the midst of a controversy. Indian Supreme Court had already announced death sentence to accused Yakub Memon, a key plotter of bomb attacks that killed hundreds in Mumbai in 1993. A large number of country’s former judges and renowned lawyers have appealed to the Indian President to change the sentence of Yakub Memon to life in prison, and now bollywood star Salman has openly tweeted against the verdict of death sentence. In his tweet he said that “One innocent man killed is killing the humanity.” He also asked Yakub Memon’s brother Tiger Memon, whom police say masterminded the attacks and who is still on the run, to come forward in this regard as his brother will be hanged in the next few days because of him. But, the actor’s comments on the issues have drawn sharp criticism from the extremist Hindus and political circle. However, after getting sharp reaction from political quarters and also his father Salim Khan, the actor deleted all the tweets and offered an unconditional apology for his remarks. However, Khan maintained that his tweets were not anti-religious.
